FAQ
Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about MindHoax.
MindHoax has only recently become publicly available, so you may not find every answer here yet.
I will update this page regularly to answer new questions and clear up anything that may be unclear.
Feel free to check back from time to time if you have questions or come across something and are not sure how to interpret it.
What is MindHoax – and what am I supposed to do here?
MindHoax is an interactive analysis and puzzle game. You examine the clues provided in each level (for example screenshots, documents, social posts, videos, audio recordings, and more) for hidden information that can help you move forward. At the same time, your task is to solve puzzles, decode codes, and sometimes logically combine clues in order to complete the individual levels.
Keep in mind that not every clue is useful.
Sometimes it is just as important to classify information as "unimportant" or "not relevant".
How do the invite rules work – and why do they exist?
After level 1 (the public demo level), you need to enter an invite code to continue.
You can get this invite code by solving a puzzle in the invite portal ("Account" > "Settings")
or from another person who has already completed level 2.
After completing level 2, each player receives 2 invite codes to share.
You can find them under "Account" > "Settings" > "Your invite codes".
At the beginning, invite codes will occasionally be shared on Reddit. (https://www.reddit.com/r/MindHoax/)
The invite portal:
- Puzzles are only available during time windows (every 3 hours for 13 minutes).
- How many puzzles are available at the same time depends on the current phase.
- Only the first player with the correct solution for a level can redeem the invite code.
- Be quick: there are easy and difficult puzzles. Available puzzles are refilled until the time window expires, as long as the limit has not been reached.
- The solved code is reserved for that player for a limited time (5 min).
- Answers are rate-limited (2 answers per minute).
Is this real? Is it about real events?
No. MindHoax is a fictional game world. The story, scenarios, and game materials exist solely for puzzle gameplay. No real cases are reenacted, and no real events are "claimed" or documented.
Are the TV channels, companies, authorities, or organizations shown in the game real?
No. For legal reasons, MindHoax uses no real existing companies, media outlets, authorities, or organizations.
All channels, brands, institutions, newspapers, and organizations shown are fictional.
Important for gameplay: Within MindHoax, these fictional actors are treated as real within the game world. For your analysis, you should therefore treat them like "real" institutions – but only in the context of the game.
Are real, publicly accessible materials (for example documents or profiles) also used?
Partly, yes. In individual game sections, real, publicly accessible content may be included, such as publicly available documents, freely accessible social media pages, or publications.
These materials are not used as "official proof" for real-world claims, but as learning material for source criticism, context evaluation, and classification.
Where such materials are included, this is done within the scope of their public availability and without falsifying their content.
I am stuck – what can I do?
- Take a break and come back with fresh eyes.
- Try to calmly analyze every detail. Not everything is obvious right away.
- Visit the Reddit community (https://www.reddit.com/r/MindHoax/)
Is there one "correct" solution?
Yes. However, it is not always obvious: some clues are clear, others are subtle. Use everything available to you in MindHoax. Even things that seem unimportant at first glance may be relevant. Often, you will also need to combine pieces of information or decode codes in order to find the solution.
Legal notice: MindHoax is a fully fictional game project. All organizations, media outlets, companies, and institutions shown within the game world are fictional. Any connection to real persons, companies, or events is not intended.
If publicly accessible materials are included, this is done solely for analysis and educational purposes within the scope of their public availability and without falsifying content.
